Entry 20: A Day In The Life Of Maggie (our dog)

Today we decided to take a break from wedding planning and refocus on the other member of our family, our dog Maggie. As you can see from the picture above, Maggie was really stanky and got a bath. Below you will see what the end result was. Prior to the bath, we decided to take Maggie for a walk. While we were walking her a couple commented on how well behaved Maggie was. That's right Maggie was actually complimented on how well she behaved (this was when dogs were barking at her and she acted like she didn't care). Some dogs (like Julie's sister and brother in laws dog Coco) would be chasing squirrels and other dogs causing mass mayhem, but luckily our dog is secure in her own identity and doesn't need to chase animals. There have been some nasty rumors going on that our dog is undisciplined and unruly, but please check the video below and you will see how a real dog acts.

Entry 19: The Tuxes Are Ordered

Well Lance finally got off his derriere and ordered his tux today. His is a black tux with an ivory vest and ivory tie. It looks very nice and you will see pictures soon. The groomsmen now have their tuxes waiting for them also. It is the same black tux, except instead of ivory they have a periwinkle vest and periwinkle tie. It is a pretty snazzy combination. Like I said pictures will be coming soon.

Entry 18: New Blog Features

Some of you may have noticed that we added some new features to the blog to make it easier for everyone to find things. If you look on the right hand side you will see that we added the hotels that we have blocked rooms off in and their websites that can show you what each one looks like and gives the phone numbers of each. We also have on the right hand side a link to the places we are registered at and when you click on them it will take you straight to the things that we have registered for. Last, but certainly not least, are some blogs that we have been reading lately. They are all friends of ours and they are interesting blogs. This blog has been quite an interesting experience for us both and we hope you find it informative and entertaining.

Entry 17: Hotel Accomodations - Holiday Inn At The Plaza

Some of you have said that you would like to stay down on the Plaza so you could do some shopping when you are here for the wedding. Well unfortunately many of the hotels down on the Plaza will not let you block off rooms, but we did find the next best option, the Holiday Inn At The Plaza. They do not block rooms, but they do give a special rate of $109 as long as you give them 30 days notice. All you will need to do is call 816-753-7400 and ask for "the wedding rate". Remember though that you must do this 30 days in advance. The amenities are very nice there and they do have a shuttle bus to the Plaza. The link to the website is below.

Entry 16: Hotel Accomodations - Holiday Inn Express (Liberty)

Today Julie and I also blocked off some rooms at the Holiday Inn - Express in Kansas City (again technically only 30 seconds from Liberty) and right next door to the Comfort Suites. Believe it or not the amenities are exactly the same, it is still only 2 miles from the Wynbrick, and the price is $109 for a room with 2 beds. The cut off date on these rooms is June 5th and after that the rooms go back to $119.95. The phone number to the Holiday Inn Express is 816-781-5555 and just say that you are wanting the rooms blocked off for the Huebner/Bruder wedding. The website is also listed below if you would like to take a look.

Entry 15: Hotels Accomodations - Comfort Suites

Yesterday we blocked off a set of rooms at the Comfort Suites in Kansas City (technically it is 30 seconds from Liberty, but who are we to complain). We have blocked of 29 rooms here. 15 of them have double queen beds and 14 rooms have a king bed with a sleeper. This hotel has a indoor pool, hot tub, exercise room, refrigerator and coffee maker in every room, and a free continental breakfast with a hot item included. We have a group rate for the wedding the double queens are $119a night and the king is $109 a night. When you call to make reservations ask for the Bruder/Huebner rate and you will need to reserve your rooms by May 20, 2008 to ensure that you get the group rate (otherwise you will be paying $20 more a night). We have the rooms blocked off for Friday (June 20th) and Saturday (June 21st). You can check in after 3:00 p.m. and the checkout time is 11:00 a.m. We will also be blocking off 30 rooms at the Holiday Inn Express which is right next door to the Comfort Suites ( a 30 second walk). Both hotels are a mile and a half from the Wynbrick (our wedding site) and have lots of eating options available. The number for the Comfort Suites is 816-781-7273 and you can check out the website that shows the hotel and gives directions there on the link below.

Entry 13: Snow Day

Lance was thrilled to get a call at 5:15 this morning telling him that school was called off for the day. As you can see from the picture above about 3-4 inches of snow hit Liberty last night causing pretty much all of the schools in the area to call off school. The big plans for the day are still unknown, but being the big party animal that Lance is it will probably include some school work to get caught up on. Hope everyone is staying warm. Below you will see what we did with the excess snow after shoveling the driveway. Hopefully Maggie will still talk to us.

Entry 12: Wedding Page

The place we are getting married (The Wynbrick) has a wedding page for people to look at that showcases some of the people that are getting married there. So if you ever wondered how Lance and Julie met, how Lance proposed to Julie, and why they decided on the Wynbrick for their wedding and reception click on the link below. I believe we are the last entry. Before I forget, be patient because the Dancing With The Stars photos are coming soon.

Entry 12: A Night Of Dancing With The Stars

Well on Sunday night we went and saw the Dancing With The Stars tour at the Sprint Center. We both went into the event not really sure what to expect, but we were both mildly surprised. I think for the both of us our favorite part was seeing Sabrina dance. We also got to hear Wayne Newton sing two songs. Overall we enjoyed it as you will see from the pictures below (Julie really enjoyed the big pretzel which you can see below).

Entry 11: Bridesmaids Dresses

Well after going through the whole spectrum of colors, the color of the bridesmaids dresses has been selected. The color is (drum role please): cornflower. This color is kind of like a sparkly royal blue. The dress can be found at David's Bridal and it is style number 8567. For those that like to just push a button and get there, the link is below. Once you are on the site, you will need to pick the cornflower swatch on the right side of the dress picture.

Entry 10: Wedding Invitations

Well we finally decided to work on our wedding invitations and below you will see what we have come up with. We have decided to try to do this online, so everyone cross their fingers (ha ha). The original proof had Lance's middle name as studmuffin, but Julie decided to make him use his given name of Rodney. This is only the first draft, so we are sure things will change (hopefully not too much though). The time for the wedding is listed at 11:30, but that is just tentative until we confer with the minister and wedding coordinator. If you would like a larger copy of the invitation to view, just email us at lancehuebner@gmail.com and we will send you one. For now enjoy.

Entry Nine: Dancing With The Stars

Julie and I have kind of become reality TV fans lately. My favorite is by far The Apprentice, but Julie is caught between The Biggest Loser and The Amazing Race. We both also enjoy watching Dancing With The Stars. That's why this Christmas I bought Julie tickets to see the Dancing With The Stars tour. Julie is excited about the show, but I am more excited about seeing the brand new Sprint Center which everyone tells me is incredible. We will be seeing the show on Sunday, so make sure to check the blog next week for pictures.

Entry Eight: Our Wedding and Reception Place

Believe it or not we both stumbled onto the site for our wedding and reception. A friend of mine, Eric Langhorst, had gone on a tour of historical buildings in Liberty and when I was discussing the wedding plans with him he told me I had to check it out. I naturally contacted Alice (the lady who owns the Wynbrick) and scheduled a time for us to go look at it. Once there we fell in love with it (actually Julie took a little bit of coaxing) and we decided that day to have our wedding at reception at the Wynbrick. It is a very historic little mansion and I am sure everyone will enjoy it. Below you will find a link to the Wynbrick website.

Entry Seven: One Down, Ten Thousand To Go

Well I am happy to report that we have finally finished registering. We decided to go with three places. They are Bed Bath and Beyond, Target (the Nintendo Wii I registered for is there), and Kohl's. You can check a list of everything we registered for on the links below.

Entry Six: A Day At The Party America

Well the plans for the wedding continue. Today was Lance's first day back at work after his long Christmas break, but right afterwards we both went to Party America. The best way to describe Party America is to take any kind of party, throw it in a blender, and whatever it spits out Part America has. While we were there today we took care of the champagne glasses for the wedding party, the ring bearer pillow, flower girl petal basket, unity candle, and guest book with pen. Julie was overwhelmed by the selections, but Lance just wanted to pick the first thing he saw and go home. Enjoy the pictures and thanks for all of you who are reading and leaving comments.

Entry Five: The Wedding Song

Well after a few arguments, Julie and I decided on our wedding song. At first I was holding out all hope for Highway To Hell (as well as Julie's dad), but unfortunately that was shot down. As a matter of fact no one else found humor in this idea. The song we did choose is called True Companion by Marc Cohen. You can listen to a 30 second clip of this song down below.

Entry Four: A Day Of Registering

Well today Julie and I decided it was time to start registering for gifts. We started off our day going through Kohl's to see what they had (even though we didn't register for anything) and found ourselves exhausted afterwards. Since Panera is right next to Kohl's, it gave us a good excuse to go and have a coffee and scone/bagel. We next went to Bed, Bath, and Beyond and that is where the fun began. They talked us through the whole process and got us registered and than gave me (naturally of course) the gun. Julie and I actually didn't argue over any of the items and I was even allowed to get a few man items (such as some beer steins and a Guinness beer sign for downstairs in case someone is reading this and wants to make me very happy). Julie says that there are many items on there that would make her happy also. We made a pretty good dent today, but this weekend we should get even more done with this registering process.

Entry Three: The Proposal

I stated in an earlier post that Julie and I became engaged on November 21st, but since I never explained how we did it here you go. Julie stayed over the night of the 20th because we were leaving early in the morning to go to her parents house for the Thanksgiving holiday. I had bought 2 dozen roses the day before and dropped them off at my friend Eric's house and planned it out with him to drop them off at my house around 5 in the morning. I let the dog out of the house that morning and when I did I called Eric and he brought the flowers right over. When I got the flowers I began laying them out in a trail from the room Julie was staying in to the living room along with a trail of red ribbon. The only problem I had with this plan is that I laid the ring box next to the couch, and a few minutes later I saw the dog in the corner chewing the box. After I checked the ring and saw it was okay, the dog was placed in the garage. I then sat in the living room waiting for Julie to wake up. When Julie woke up she followed the roses and ribbon to the living room and I proposed from there. The rest is history for now. You can see pictures of what the roses and ribbon looked like below.

Entry Two: Extreme Home Makeover, Kitchen Edition

After coming back from Christmas with both of our families, we decided that we wanted to do something a little different with the kitchen. We had some discussions and decided to repaint the cabinets and cabinet doors a cream color, and if that wasn't enough we also decided to put new hardware on all the cabinet doors. We knew it was going to be a big project, but even though we are both exhausted the end result was well worth the effort. It should also be pointed out that even though Lance is not a big fan of flowers, he lost the argument on this. Below you will see what the new hardware looks like and a picture of the newly repainted kitchen.

Entry One: The Beginning

Welcome to our blog. Our names are Lance and Julie and we recently became engaged on November 21st. We are keeping this blog to help us keep track of all the exciting things going on in our lives and hopefully for family members and friends to also keep updated on our lives. As times go by I will explain how Julie and I met, but that will be another time. Before I forget though the family doesn't just consist of Julie and myself, but also our German Shepherd pup named Maggie. You can see a picture of the third member down below.
