Entry 49: Our Ring Bearer

Well Julie thought it only fair our ring bearer get his own entry as the flower girl got her own entry. Our ring bearers name is Matthew. He is a seven year-old boy from Iowa; he is also Lance's nephew. This will be his first time as a ring bearer. He will be wearing an exact, but smaller version, of Lance's tux and he is going to look handsome. I am also confident that he will do a great job. There is a picture of Matthew below taken at Easter. I would also like to thank Matthew's parents (Rod and Lisa) for helping out with the ushering and the cake.

Entry 48: Dinner At Chappell's

Julie had never had the chance to see or even eat at the restaurant we were going to have the rehearsal dinner, so last night we changed all that by having dinner at Chappell's with Mary (Julie's sister) and Phillip (Mary's husband). Everyone was amazed with all of the memorabilia in the restaurant and enjoyed the food. Let's just say that no one can go home hungry there. We even got to talk to the owner Jim last night and to Lance's delight found out he was also from Iowa. Their hometowns were very close together and as he was leaving told Julie that she was marrying good stock. Enjoy the pictures below.

Entry 47: NCAA Shout Outs

Well so far I am not doing real well in my NCAA tournament pool. So the following people get shout outs for beating me so far. Congratulations to my sister Jacque (I am so embarrassed about that one) and one of my co-workers Jamie Miller who as of right now are trouncing me. I have almost no shot of beating Jacque, but if UCLA wins the whole thing I just might catch Jamie. Go Bruins.

Entry 46: Road Trip

Today we travelled back from seeing Lance's parents in Iowa and had a good time. We stopped off and grabbed lunch at Taco Bell. For some reason Julie doesn't trust Lance's driving and made him pull into a parking lot to eat their lunch. You can see our lovely lunch down below, but the sad part was that when we got out to use the restroom the dog ate the rest of Lance's chicken quesedilla. Below you will also see a picture of the dog after Lance yelled at it. The last picture you will see is from a franchised gas station that are all across Iowa. Julie always laughs when we go by one because they are called Kum And Go. Lets just say we had an interesting ride back.

Entry 45: A Proud Uncle

We were lucky enough tonight to dine with Lance's mom, dad, brother, sister in law, niece, and nephew. The food was delicious and at the end of the night Lance's niece, Isabella, said something that brought a tear to his eye. You can see what happened in the video below. Lance says it is great to see that his niece is being brought up right.

Entry 44: The Flower Girls Dress

Today we went with the flower girl, Lance's niece Isabella, and bought her flower girl's dress. It is a beautiful dress which you can see below along with a video where Isabella gives a twirl with the dress on. Lance's favorite part of the day was when Isabella began calling Julie, Aunt Julie.

Entry 43: The Rehearsal Dinner

After we found out that Granite City (our first choice for the rehearsal dinner) does not take group parties on Fridays or Saturdays, Lance was thrilled to book the rehearsal dinner at his favorite restaurant Chappelle's. Chappelle's is a Kansas City must see for any sports fan and everyone will be blown away by the food and atmosphere. This is always the favorite place for Lance and his brother Todd to eat. You can click the link below to see the restaurant and find out more about what is inside it (like we said it is like a museum and a restaurant).

Entry 42: The Food

Today we had a big day and began to tie up all the loose ends for the wedding. Thew first big decision we made is where to spend the night after the wedding ceremony and festivities. For those inquiring minds, it is a remote area in either the state of Missouri or Kansas. If you want to know more, tough luck.We also met with the caterer today and tried three separate dishes for the reception (you can see a picture of all 3 up above). We decided to go with the chicken florentine and roast beef au jus as our two entrees (you will see pictures of them underneath). We both absolutely loved the chicken florentine. The side dishes are going to be cheesy potato casserole, roasted asparagus, and roasted green beans with sweet garlic glaze. We will also have a many different types of breads for everyone to choose from (fresh baked rolls, pumpernickel rolls, sour dough rolls, and foccacia bread). We are sure everything is going to be delicious.

Entry 42: March Madness

Lance is a big fan of filling out his brackets for March Madness, but Julie is being a good sport this year and also filling one out. Here is everyone's chance to fill out a bracket and see if you can beat Julie and Lance. All you have to do is click on the link below and set up an account (this takes about 3 minutes). After your account is set up it will ask you for a password to join the group. The password is Julie and once you type it in you can begin filling out your bracket. If you are able to beat Julie or Lance you will get a shout out on the blog (that's a big IF though). Good luck to everyone and let the madness begin.

Remember that the password to get into the group is Julie.

Entry 41: Pre Bridal Shower Gifts

On Friday we had a package delivered that had some lovely gifts in them. Julie's grandmother sent us some gorgeous dishes and flatware that we are both very excited about. You can see pictures below.

Entry 40: A Weekend On The Farm

This weekend we had the pleasure of going to visit Julie's parents and had a wonderful time. Unfortunately we got in late Friday night, but we made up for that on Saturday. Saturday started off by everyone going to Steelville so Julie could get alterations done on her dress. For some reason Lance was not allowed to see the dress (I guess it is bad luck or something), but he has been told it is beautiful and that he will cry when he sees it. After Steelville the men and women split up with the women going to Maurices and the men going to some thrift stores. Lance ended up adding to his Kurt Warner collection by buying a Kurt Warner bobble head and also a Kurt Warner sweatshirt. Julie also bought some new outfits, that Lance summed up in one word: WOW. After shopping we all took in a movie that was called Vantage Point. This movie was one of the best we have ever seen and it kept us all on the edge of our seats. We would recommend this movie to everyone. Unfortunately we had to leave Sunday, but we had an incredible time. Below you will see some pictures from this weekend.

The first two pictures are from the bedroom that Julie's parents recently fixed up:

Entry 39: Dinner With The Green's

Friday night we stopped off in Columbia, Missouri and had dinner with the Green family (Tara, Josh, and Carter) who are friends of Julie's. We had dinner at a nice restaurant called the 66 Diner which is outfitted in all 60's items. Julie had the hamburger, while Lance took Josh's advice and had the crab cakes with mac and cheese. It was a very good meal and a nice conversation. Below you will see a picture of Julie, Tara, and Carter.

Entry 37: The Flu Bug

It has been quite some time since we last posted, but this was all due to the fact that the flu bug recently hit the both of us. There is nothing terrible than feeling sick to your stomach and not having the enery to do anything. The good news is that we both finally appear to be over it and the blog should be updated more frequently.

Entry 36: Democracy At Work: Part 2

Well the votes are in and the verdict on the dog being in the wedding has been decided. Lance is a democrat and feels that since he won the popular vote that the dog should be in the wedding. Julie, however, feels that she had more superdelegates hence more electoral votes and that the dog should not be in the wedding. After much debate the decision was made that the dog would not be in the wedding. I realize that this upsets many people (yes Eric I was envisioning the Brady Bunch episode with Tiger), but the dog will not be attending the wedding but rest assured that the dog will be in our hearts on this glorious day.

Entry 35: Adventures In Babysitting

Tonight we had the pleasure of babysitting for our good friends the Langhorst's. They have a 4 year old girl and a 4 month old girl. It was decided before hand that Julie would take care of the 4 year old, while Lance handled the 4 month old. Everything went well with Julie reading a bedtime story and Lance being spit up on all over his shirt. All in all a good learning experience for the both of us.

Entry 34: Go Royals

Lance has been a long time fan of the Kansas City Royals and loves going to watch them play. As you can see from the picture above, Julie has finally started coming around and bought some Royals paraphernalia today. They should come in handy for all of the Royals games we are going to be seeing.

Entry 33: Happy Birthday And Get Well Soon

March 2nd is Lance's brothers birthday. Unfortunately, Todd will be spending a majority if not all of his birthday in the hospital. On Friday afternoon he was admnitted to the hospital due to problems with his appendix. Saturday they removed his appendix, but are still a little bit worried about some fluid around his pancreas. Todd is in our prayers and we wish him a speedy recovery.
