Entry 576: Nap Time

Lance is on holiday break and while he is Julie has made a "honey do" list for him.  He spends most of his day knocking things off the list and normally the dogs will either follow him around and lay down and watch him work.  Today though Maggie disappeared while Lance was working and as he went upstairs to look for her, he found her sleeping on the spare bed with her head on the pillow.  It must be tough work watching Lance all day.

Entry 575: These Boots Were Made For Walking

This may come as a shock to some people, but Lance loves listening to his 90's rap station (Vanilla Ice radio) on Pandora.  One of his favorite songs when he was in college was Rump Shaker by Wreckx N Effect and one day when we were driving home from work it came on.  Lance started singing along and he was so confident that Julie wouldn't know who sang the song that he bet her $200 that she couldn't name who sang it.  Lo and behold if she didn't name the group and ended up collecting the money from Lance.  You will see below the fashionable boots that she bought with her winnings.  You will also see the classic song Rump Shaker below (radio edit of course).

Entry 574: Christmas Eve Service

We have our own little Christmas traditions and one of them is to go to the Christmas Eve service.  This year our church held one at 4:30 in the afternoon and we thought perfect because after Lance gets Julie from work we can go straight there and there won't be that many people.  Boy were we wrong.  We got there around 4:10 and the church was already packed to the point where we had to have someone help us find 2 seats.  The service was amazing as always (we may be biased but our church choir is the best) and we left feeling great.  The picture below is another reason that we love our church:  the view.

Entry 573: Surprise Birthday Party

Last week we surprised Nancy by throwing her a surprise birthday part at Fiorella's Jack Stack Barbecue to celebrate her 65th birthday.  Her family and friends were all there to surprise her and we had a great time.  Nice job by Julie's sister, Mary to set this up.

Entry 572: Snow Day

Today was Lance's first snow day of the year, so naturally he took a selfie with him and Bella to commemorate the day.

Entry 571: Payback

Yesterday when we got home from work, Lance went out to get the mail like he always does.  In the mailbox there was a package and this naturally got Lance a little excited because his Grandma usually sends him a pretty nice gift each Christmas.  When Lance opened the package though, he got a surprise.  His sister, Jacque, and her husband took it upon themselves to send Lance a bottle of dillweed.  If you don't know that is an insult and you'll have to look it up to see what it means.  Let's just say that Lance is already plotting his revenge.

Entry 570: Dear Santa

In Lance's job he usually doesn't get to see many things that make him smile.  He works with a lot of difficult children that have varying challenges.  He was having a bad day a few days ago when the counselor came in and gave him a letter that was addressed to Santa and delivered to the school.  This peaked Lance's curiosity and he read the letter. It turns out that a student of his wrote a letter to Santa and his mom addressed it to the school and sent it.  They did this every year in elementary school and the school would write a letter back to them.  This made Lance's day and this year Lance gets to play the role of Santa.

Entry 569: 'Tis The Season

Today all of the vendors at Julie's office dropped off Christmas snacks.  Let's just say it looks and tastes delicious.

Entry 568: In The Mood

This year Lance is working with a student who is fascinated with chickens.  Everyday in his class the students pulls up this video on his computer and it drives Lance up the wall.  Enjoy.

Entry 567: A "Lions" Christmas

Julie and Nancy (Julie's mom) recently decided that they were going to join the Lions Club International because they were both looking for a way to give back.  They recently had their Christmas celebration at Luigi's which is a great little Italian restaurant on the square in Liberty.  Since it was their Christmas party, they were able to invite their spouses and Lance was excited because he had great things about Luigi's.  We were not disappointed because the food was great (Lance says the best ravioli he has ever had) and the conversation was great.  Overall we had a fantastic time.
