Entry 295: Royals/White Sox Game
Last night we took our friend Chevy to Kauffman Stadium to watch the Kansas City Royals play the Chicago White Sox and also to celebrate Lance's birthday. It was a beautiful day, so we decided to tailgate and just enjoy the atmosphere before the game. Unfortunately the Royals lost, but as you can see from the pictures the game wasn't a complete disappointment because Chevy and Lance got the picture taken with the most beautiful woman in the stadium. We had a great time watching the game and catching up with a old friend.

Entry 294: Eclipse
Julie has read all of the Twilight books and loved them all. Today we went to the theaters and caught the movie Eclipse. Julie has liked both of the movies thus far and Lance has been lukewarm about them. We both came out of the theater enjoying this movie though. It had just enough action and special effects for Lance and drama for Julie. This could be a movie that we go and see again because it was that good.

Entry 293: Birthday Barbecue
Tuesday is Lance's birthday, so Julie decided to invite some of their friends over and have an early birthday celebration for Lance. We barbecued some hamburgers and hot dogs, and Bobby had the time of his life because the little kids played with him the entire time. Two of our friends (Anita and Tyson) were nice enough to bring Lance's favorite cake (carrot cake) and some homemade chocolate women whose picture cannot be placed on the blog according to Julie. It was a great time spent with family and friends. Thanks everyone.

Entry 292: Royals/Cardinals Game
Today's Royals/Cardinals game can be summed up in one word: HOT. The heat index was over 100 degrees and we were sweating as soon as we sat down. Lance does not like Cardinal fans at all, so this made him even more uncomfortable. Thankfully the game got over quick, but unfortunately the Royals did not win. Lance did have a moment of happiness though when mustard won the hot dog race and he could rub it in to Julie who was rooting for relish.

Entry 291: Julie's Wish Is Granted
The roof to our house is old and whenever it rains Julie hopes it hails so maybe it will damage the roof and we can replace it. Well recently we have had some storms and quite a few roofing companies have been coming through the neighborhood asking if we want them to check for hail damage. Lance always says no, but takes their card. Their was one company that seemed really good, so Lance relented and let them take a look at the roof. They said that the roof had hail damage, so Lance called it in and after the insurance company took a look at after they took a look at it we are getting a new roof. Julie is ecstatic and below you see all the different colors Julie gets to choose from for the shingles. Lets see how well you know Julie by guessing what color she will choose. Good luck (by the way Lance already knows what color Julie will choose before even showing her the choices).

Entry 290: Our Second Anniversary
Yesterday we celebrated our second anniversary and we did it in a low key style. Julie has been very busy at work, so we decided to do something low key last night and have a nice dinner on the plaza Thursday. We stayed home and Lance cooked lasagna and made a cake. We had some nice wine and looked at our wedding pictures reminiscing about the day. Doesn't sound real exciting, but we enjoyed it.

Entry 289: Another Movie Day
Today we treated ourselves to another movie, and this time we saw The Karate Kid. Lance loved this movie when he was younger and was dying to see the remake of it. Julie gave the movie a 7 stars out of 10 because she says it had a good concept, but she just couldn't get over the original. Lance gave it 7 out of 10 stars also because he thinks they didn't stray away enough from the original, but he enjoyed seeing all of the scenes from China since he has been there. Julie gets to pick the next movie we see and her choice is Eclipse which we already have tickets for.
Entry 288: Happy Fathers Day
We both want to wish our dad's, Paul and Kent, a happy father's day. We love both of you very much and are so happy to have the both of you in our lives.

Entry 287: Funny Bobby Story
This morning we decided to let Bobby ride in the car while Lance took Julie to work. This is a pretty common occurrence in the summer, so it's no big deal. This morning Lance took Julie's laptop bag into her office for her and forgot to roll up the window. When we got to Julie's office, Julie turned to Lance and asked if he heard that. Lance listened closely and heard something scratching at the back door to get in the office. As Lance got closer to the door he could hear even more clearly something jumping at the back door and barking. That's right Bobby got out of the car and wanted in the building to be close to Julie. As soon as I opened the back door, Bobby ran in and went straight to Julie's office. Julie's co-workers all got a big laugh out of it as Lance picked up Bobby to take him home.
Entry 286: A Soggy Night
Last night we attempted to go and see the Royals play the Houston Astros. When we got there the weather was beautiful and we even decided to tailgate as you can see from the picture below. Once we got in the game everything changed though. The skies darkened up and we were told that we had to go down to the bottom because of the wind gusts that were coming. After sitting downstairs for two hours we decided that we were just going to pack it up when the rain let up and go home. Lance was excited anyway because he was interviewed by Fox 4 News about his thoughts on Kansas City getting the 2012 All Star Game, so he wanted to get home and see if he made the news. Julie summed it up best when she said: at least the tailgating was fun.

Entry 285: Movie Day
We are both fans of the Shrek series and have been dying to see Shrek 4 in the theaters. We decided today to catch a matinee showing of it and we were both disappointed to say the least. Julie gave it 3 stars out of 10 and Lance gave it 4. The biggest problem we had with the movie is that it just wasn't very funny at all. Julie thought the movie didn't wrap any of the previous 3 movies into it and according to her it just felt like it was thrown together.
We both enjoyed ourselves today and decided that whenever we don't have Royals tickets for a weekend game that we are going to catch a movie and have lunch afterwards at a place we either haven't eaten at before or haven't eaten at for at least six months. Lance gets to pick the next movie and it will be The Karate Kid. We'll let everyone know what we think of that one after we see it.

Entry 284: Lunch Surprise
Today Lance surprised Julie by stopping by her work and taking her out for lunch. We ended up going to TGI Fridays because it was the closest and most convenient place. Hopefully with Lance on break we can make this more of a tradition.

Entry 283: Happy Anniversary
Entry 282: Royals Game
It had been awhile since we have been to a Royals game, but luckily we had tickets for today. The Royals played the Tigers and won 7-2. It was a great game and wasn't even close because Jose Guillen hit a 3 run homer in the first for the Royals. Julie even got to see her favorite player Joakim Soria come into the game. The Royals have a new promotion where if you fill out 100 all star ballots with all Royals you get a t-shirt. Lance punched ballots throughout the game and ended up with 32 completed (only 68 to go for the free t-shirt).

Entry 281: Julie Gets The Boot
A few days ago Julie was playing with the dog and Bobby jumped up and knocked her down. We didn't think much of it until the next day when her ankle started swelling up. She was able to get into the doctors office today and she ended up getting the boot. The doctor thinks it is just a sprained ligament, but until the swelling goes down she gets to wear the boot. We'll know more in two weeks when Julie goes back.
Entry 280: Last Day Of School
Yesterday was Lance's last day of school. He completed his 17th year and after a few weeks we are sure he will be ready to go again. Every summer since we have been married we have given Lance's summer break a name. The first year was called Lance's Summer Of Love because that was the year we were married. The second year was Lance's Summer of House Love because he spent the entire summer doing things around the house. This year we have decided to deviate a little from the previous themes and have decided to call this summer: The Summer Of Bobby. We decided that Bobby loves Lance's summers off more than anyone because he doesn't have to go in his cage. So let the summer of Bobby commence.
Entry 279: Loose Park
Last Sunday Julie's mom and dad wanted to go to Loose Park and see the rose gardens. We didn't know this, but Kent and Nancy spent a lot of time walking through the park when they were first married. It was awesome being able to listen to them relive those memories and talk about how the park has changed. It was a great ending to a great weekend.
